Hi, I am Bonnie Saunders, author of the website and photographer of most all the photos found here.

Alpha & Omega Stables Photography was born in 1997 when I became brave enough to try to start a business of my own.  It actually began as an equine educational business.  I was coaching 4-H youth in knowledge events and developed some of my own teaching materials.  That side of the business declined, but as I was taking thousands of photos to teach with, my photography side of the business took off, and I began taking pictures at 4-H horse shows.

My younger son Jeremy had his senior portraits taken by a local photographer, Herb Jones.  Herb offered to teach me wedding photography, and then got me to join the Professional Photographer's Society of New York State (PPSNYS).

Many thanks to Herb for all his encouragement, and to all those in the Finger Lakes section of PPSNYS.  The meetings are always informative, and the Workshop put on each year at Hobart College has been awesome for me.  I have taken 3 courses in Adobe Photoshop, which is apparent in some of the work on the gallery page, and for some of you who have wedding photographs I have retouched, or equine photos I have "fixed up" for you.  I have also taken three photographic courses from Lori Rose the Smith's and Doug Box which have been a real boost to my "people" side of photography.  I also took a course in Corell Painter so that I could learn to turn photographs into what look like paintings.  I often attend conferences and  I always come away with lots of new ideas for products and ways to enhance my photography, retouching and printing.

I have to admit that I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY!  I love "shooting" horses,
their owners and horse events.  But I have discovered that I love "shooting" people too!  I do on location senior photography and families and anniversary parties, weddings, etc.  What a blast to have a job you love!!!!!

My background:
I have an AAS degree in Horse Husbandry from SUNY Morrisville, NY
I have a BS in Medical Technology from SUC Geneseo, NY
I worked in the Medical Technology field until 1997 when I started my own business.

I am still involved in Medical Technology as I am an adjunct instructor at Elim Bible Institute (Lima, NY) in their Missions and International Community Health Program.  I teach the Microbiology and Applied Medical Technology course.  We are the only program of this type in the world!  Our students take one to two years of Bible training, then an intense year of medical training before they go out to work with people in third world countries.  We are now working with our sixth class of students this fall semester of 2008.  It is a privilege to be a part of this program.

My husband Ted is employed full time as a Certified Safety Professional.  He performs inspections of facilities that want insurance coverage.  On weekends he changes hats and becomes a photographer or helper when we do weddings or large horse shows.  (or else he is off golfing, fishing, shooting his guns or playing or coaching basketball!)

We have two sons.  Michael (Mike) was in the Navy in the submarine service for 6 years, and is currently in the active Nave Reserves.  His unit returned from 8 months of deployment in Kwait in June.  Now that he has returned, he can go back to college to finish his degree and continue his work at Harris Communications.
Jeremiah (Jeremy) is a graduate of Houghton College (Business) and has had several jobs, none he was happy with.  He finally decided to join the Army in 2007.  He is  an Army Medic at fort Bragg in N.C.  His unit is to be deployed to Iraq in October and this will be Jeremy's first tour of duty.
It is tough to have both of our sons in the military.  We are thankful that Mike is home safe and sound, and we have faith that Jesus will be with Jeremy throughout his deployment in Iraq and he will return safely as well.

We also have 2 horses, the pony seen on the opening page with Jeremy is Prince, and I have a paint named Richie, and we have a cat named Spicey.  (The cat - Milo - on the opening page was 13 when he died this past winter.  He made himself a real part of our family and is missed.  Spicey is his sister.)

I am living with Lyme Disease and Fibromyalgia and it is a real battle to try get well.  I am working with multiple doctors and alternative treatments.  No cures yet but I keep trying!

Blessings,
Bonnie Saunders
